Description of Larinioides patagiatus (Ornamental orbweaver)

Physical Characteristics

Female 5 to 11 mm.
Abdomen with the same kind of leaf-shaped figure as the other two Larinioides-species, but with much less contrast. The triangular patch on the front can sometimes be very weak.
Carapace light brown to reddish brown with light hairs and a light band along the edge.
Legs and palps light brown to reddish brown with dark annulations and dots.

Male 5 to 7.5 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

Lower branches and bushes in forests and forest edges.

Distribution

Common in the whole of Europe.

Period

Almost all year.
