Description of Neoscona adianta

Physical Characteristics

Reminds of Aculepeira ceropegia.

Female 5 to 11 mm.
Abdomen orange-brown with a white to yellow oak leaf-shaped figure with an orange-brown longitudinal stripe in the centre.
Carapace grey with a thin dark grey median band and a thin grey band along the sides.
Legs and palps yellowish to orange with a few dark annulations.

Male 4 to 6.5 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

Dry and wet areas in low vegetation. Especially in heathlands.

Distribution

Common in the whole of Europe. Rarer in the south.

Period

Summer.
