Description of Trochosa ruricola (Rustic wolf spider)

Physical Characteristics

Female 8 to 14 mm.
Abdomen brown with a clear light brown cardiac mark and small light brown spots along the sides.
Carapace light brown with light sides and a light median band which is slightly broader at the front and has dark spots along the side. Due to this it seems like this band has two loops.
Legs and palps brown.

Male 7 to 10 mm.
Markings almost identical to the female, but with more contrast.

Habitat

Humid areas such as meadows, gardens and forest edges.

Distribution

Common in the whole of Europe.

Period

All year.
