Description of Anelosimus pulchellus

Physical Characteristics

Female 3 to 5 mm.
Abdomen white to yellow-brown or orange-brown with a broad, wavy dark brown median band.
Carapace yellow-brown with a dark brown median band and a thin dark band along the edge.
Legs pale brown with faint orange-brown annulations.
Palps pale brown.

Male 3 to 4.5 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

In trees and shrubs.

Distribution

Occurs in the southern half of Europe, but rare. The portrayed specimen has been found in the Netherlands.

Period

Spring and summer.
