Description of Cyclosa sierrae

Physical Characteristics

Strongly resembles Cyclosa conica.

Female 4 to 7 mm.
Abdomen with a high protrusion at the back. Colour yellowish with red spots along the side and dark brown markings on top.
Carapace black-brown.
Legs and palps light-dark annulated. Sometimes with red on the femora.

Male 3 to 5 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

The portrayed specimens have been found in a bush in a dry, warm and mountainous area. No further information about the habitat is known.

Distribution

Occurs in the Mediterranean area. To the east as far as Georgia.

Period

The portrayed specimens have been found in June. No further information about the period is known.
