Description of Neaetha membrosa

Physical Characteristics

Female 4 to 5 mm.
Abdomen light brown with dark and light spots.
Carapace light brown with dark and light spots, a whitish band around and dark “eyebrows” above the anterior eyes.
Legs light brown with dark annulations and lighter tarsi. Pair of legs I thickened and enlarged.
Palps yellow-brown.

Male 3 to 4 mm.
Abdomen orange-brown with dark and light spots.
Carapace orange-brown with dark and light spots, a white band around with a thin black band underneath and dark “eyebrows” above the anterior eyes.
Legs orange-brown with dark annulations. Pair of legs I black-brown, thickened and longer than the length of the abdomen and the carapace together.
Palps orange-brown with black-brown tarsi.

Habitat

Along river banks on rocks and gravel banks, on beaches and dry grasslands.

Distribution

Occurs in the Mediterranean area and Germany.

Period

Spring and summer.
