Description of Larinioides cornutus (Furrow orbweaver)

Physical Characteristics

Looks like the Bridge orbweaver (Larinioides sclopetarius).

Female 6 to 20 mm.
Abdomen ight brown, grey-brown or reddish brown with a light defined, dark leaf-shaped figure on top and a light defined triangular spot at the front. The bright outline is quite broad.
Carapace reddish brown to dark brown with light hairs and a white band along the edge.
Legs and palps light brown to reddish brown with dark annulations and dots.

Male 5 to 10 mm.
Markings almost identical to the female, but often darker.

Habitat

Mainly along river banks in grasslands and forests.

Distribution

Common in the whole of Europe.

Period

All year.
