Description of Steatoda nobilis (Noble false-widow)

Physical Characteristics

Female 9.5 to 14 mm.
Abdomen pinkish beige with two broad purplish brown bands which are connected on the front and the back. Between them white with a pinkish beige pattern.
Carapace yellow-brown with faint dark radial stripes.
Legs and palps light-dark annulated.

Male 7.5 to 11 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

In various areas. In the north also in buildings.

Distribution

Originally Canary Islands and Madeira. Introduced in the Mediterranean area and Great Britain.

Period

All year.
