Description of Marpissa radiata

Physical characteristics

Female 6 to 10 mm.
Abdomen light yellowish brown with a yellow median band flanked with two black longitudinal stripes.
Carapace dark brown with scattered light brown hairs. Around the eyes dark red and beneath the eyes light yellow haired.
Legs dark brown with scattered light brown hairs. Tarsi with black tips.
Palps with long white-yellow hairs.

Male 6 to 7 mm.
Abdomen light brown with orange longitudinal stripes.
Carapace dark brown with a light brown pattern and a thin black border.
Legs and palps light brown with black longitudinal stripes. Tarsi light brown and on the legs with black tips.

Habitat

In moist areas and along shores in reeds and cattails.

Distribution

Occurs in almost the whole of Europe.

Period

Spring, summer and autumn.
