Description of Episinus maculipes

Physical Characteristics

Female 4 to 6 mm.
Abdomen remarkably triangular shaped. Colour light brown with a dark brown leaf-shaped figure on top.
Carapace light brown with a dark brown median band, a fine wavy dark brown band along the sides and a thin dark brown band along the edge.
Legs and palps light brown with dark brown annulations, stripes and spots.

Male 3.5 to 4.5 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

Leaves in trees and bushes.

Distribution

Occurs in the southern part of Europe, but not common.

Period

Spring, summer and autumn.
