Description of Tenuiphantes tenuis

Physical Characteristics

Markings and colour variable.

Female 2 to 4.5 mm.
Abdomen brown to black brown with black stripes or spots and marbled white spots along the sides and on top. These white spots can sometimes be greatly reduced or completely absent.
Carapace dark brown to black.
Legs yellow-brown.
Palps brown to black-brown.

Male 2 to 3.5 mm.
Same variable colour and pattern as the female. Abdomen and carapace sometimes almost entirely black.

Habitat

Various habitats.

Distribution

Common in the whole of Europe.

Period

All year.
