Description of Synema globosum

Physical Characteristics

The entire body of the spider is clear glossy.

Female 6 to 8 mm.
Abdomen white, yellow, orange or red with a black, deeply notched, leaf-like pattern.
Carapace reddish brown to black-brown. Lighter colour around the eyes.
Legs annulated. First two pairs of legs are often much darker than the rear leg pairs.
Palps dark brown.

Male 3 to 4 mm.
Resembles the female, but is much darker and has significantly less colour on the abdomen.

Habitat

Mainly in flowers in sunny, dry or slightly damp places.

Distribution

Common in almost the whole of Europe. More common to the south.

Period

Summer.
