Description of Ozyptila trux (Leaflitter crab spider)

Physical Characteristics

Female 4 to 6 mm.
Abdomen pale brown to yellow brown with a not always clear pattern of black lines.
Carapace light brown with two dark longitudinal bands on top and sometimes also two short dark bands along the sides.
Legs and palps light brown.

Male 3 to 4 mm. Immature males are about as lightly coloured as the female.
Abdomen dark brown with black spots and white lines.
Carapace dark brown with two black longitudinal bands on top and two black bands along the sides.
Legs dark brown with black femora.
Palps black-brown.

Habitat

Dry and slightly damp areas with low vegetation.

Distribution

Common in the whole of Europe.

Period

Spring, summer and autumn.
