Description of Chalcoscirtus infimus

Physical Characteristics

Female 2.5 to 3.5 mm.
Abdomen shiny black. Sometimes with a rough surface.
Carapace shiny black.
Legs yellow-orange, sometimes with black femora.
Palps yellow, sometimes with black femora.

Male 2 to 3 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female. The legs however, are completely black with yellow-brown tarsi. Abdomen with shiny scutum.

Habitat

In warm areas on rock slopes and rocks.

Distribution

Occurs in the southern half of Europe. Up to the north as far as Germany.

Period

Spring and summer.
