Description of Pardosa nigra

Physical Characteristics

Female 8 to 9 mm.
Abdomen dark brown with lighter sides and lighter chevrons.
Carapace dark brown.
Legs and palps dark brown with lighter annulations.

Male 7 mm.
Abdomen black-brown with a grey median band, cardiac mark and chevrons.
Carapace black-brown.
Legs grey with darker femora.
Palps grey with black-brown tarsi.

Habitat

Rough areas such as glaciers and (stone)meadows and in mountains between 2000 and 3300 m.

Distribution

Occurs in Central and southern Europe.

Period

Spring and summer.
