Description of Bassaniodes robustus (Ground crab spider)
Physical Characteristics
Female 7 to 12 mm.
Abdomen dark brown with lighter spots.
Carapace dark brown with lighter spots.
Legs and palps dark brown with lighter spots.
Male 5 to 7 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female, but darker. Legs distally lighter.
Habitat
Dry, warm, sparsely vegetated areas on the ground and under stones.
Distribution
Occurs in the whole of Europe.
Period
Spring, summer and autumn.
