Description of Salticus zebraneus

Physical Characteristics

Resembles young Salticus scenicus.
Female approximately 4 mm.
Abdomen black with unclear white bands and light brown spots.
Carapace also black with unclear white and light brown spots.
Legs light brown annulated.
Palps white.

Male approximately 3 mm.
Markings en colours almost identical to the female. Legs and palps , however, dark annulated and chelicerae strongly enlarged.

Habitat

Mainly on the bark of trees and wood piles.

Distribution

Common in the whole of Europe.

Period

Early spring to early summer. Females up to the end of summer.
