Description of Steatoda albomaculata (White-spotted false-widow)

Physical Characteristics

Female 5.5 to 7 mm.
Abdomen black with a white or yellow band on the front and white or yellow spots on top that sometimes can be merged.
Carapace black.
Legs and palps alternating black and reddish brown.

Male 3 to 6 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

In dry, sunny areas in sparse vegetation. In the mountains up to 2,600 m.

Distribution

Common in the whole of Europe.

Period

Spring, summer and autumn.
