Description of Phlegra fasciata

Physical Characteristics

Female 6 to 8 mm.
Abdomen golden brown to black with a white median band and white stripes along the side.
Carapace golden brown to black with two white bands on top and a white border along the underside. Underneath the front eyes white hairs.
Legs and palps annulated.

Male 5 to 6 mm.
Almost entirely golden brown to black. Markings are similar to those of the female, however, very weak and difficult to distinguish.

Habitat

Sandy and stony areas with little vegetation.

Distribution

Occurs in the whole of Europe, but not common.

Period

Summer to early autumn.
