Description of Menemerus taeniatus

Physical Characteristics

Female 8 to 9 mm.
Abdomen grey-brown with two broad black bands along the side.
Carapace grey-brown with two broad black bands along the sides which come together beneath the eyes.
Legs grey-brown with thin black annulations.
Palps with long white hairs.

Male 7 to 8 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female. beneath the anterior eyes dark red hair.

Habitat

In warm areas in shrubs and orchards.

Distribution

Common in Southern Europe.

Period

Spring and summer.
