Description of Uloborus walckenaerius

Physical Characteristics

Female 5 to 8 mm.
Abdomen whitish haired with darker striped sides and a slightly darker cardiac mark. On top a row of upright tufts of hair.
Carapace whitish haired with darker longitudinal stripes.
Legs and palps clear light-dark annulated.

Male 3 to 5 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

In warm, sandy areas in low vegetation such as heather.

Distribution

Occurs in large parts of Europe, but rare. In the Mediterranean area quite common.

Period

Summer and autumn.
