Description of Tegenaria silvestris

Physical Characteristics

Female 6 to 9 mm.
Abdomen light brown with an orange to reddish brown median band, lined with dark and light spots.
Carapace light brown with two black notched longitudinal bands on top and a notched band along the edge.
Legs and palps clearly light-dark annulated.

Male 5 to 6 mm.
Markings almost identical to the female, but slightly darker coloured.

Habitat

Under rocks or tree roots in forests or at the entrance of caves.

Distribution

Common in the whole of Europe.

Period

Almost all year.
