Description of Menemerus semilimbatus

Physical Characteristics

Female 8 to 9 mm.
Abdomen light grey-brown with white and black spots and white, sometimes fluffy, hair along the edge.
Carapace dark brown with white, sometimes fluffy, hair along the edge and white spots on top. Around the anterior eyes a few orange hairs.
Legs light brown with light and dark annulations.
Palps with long white, sometimes fluffy, hairs.

Male 7 to 8.5 mm.
Almost the same markings as the female. No orange hair around the anterior eyes. Palps black and white patellae and tibiae. Femora of pair of legs I thickened and black.

Habitat

Sunny dry places on rocks and walls. Often in and around houses.

Distribution

Quite common in the Mediterranean area.

Period

Spring and summer.
