Description of Heliophanus melinus

Physical Characteristics

Female 4.5 to 6 mm.
Abdomen black with a broad white band around and two, sometimes very broad, white longitudinal stripes on top.
Carapace black with white hair around the eyes and the sides.
Legs yellow-brown.
Palps yellow.

Male 3.5 to 5.5 mm.
Abdomen like the female.
Carapace like the female.
Legs black with white spots. Tarsi and metatarsi brown.
Palps black with white hair on top.

Habitat

Various habitats such as riverbanks, trees, bushes and under rocks.

Distribution

Common in the Mediterranean area.

Period

Almost all year.
