Description of Zygiella montana

Physical Characteristics

Female 8.5 tot 9 mm.
Abdomen yellowish to pinkish with a darker, dark brown outlined, leaf-shaped figure containing an almost white cardiac mark.
Carapace yellow-brown to orange-brown with a dark triangle on the head.
Legs and palps yellow-brown to orange-brown with black spots and annulations.

Male 6 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

In mountain areas in bushes, trees, on rocks and buildings. Usually above 1,000 m.

Distribution

Occurs in the higher areas of Europe.

Period

Summer.
