Description of Scotophaeus scutulatus

Physical Characteristics

Built more solid than Scotophaeus blackwalli.
Female 8 to 16 mm.
Abdomen dark brown to mouse grey haired.
Carapace dark reddish brown to brownish grey.
Legs dark brown to mouse grey haired. Femora with stronger hair growth.
Palps dark brown to mouse grey haired.

Male 7 to 11 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

Mainly in and around houses and buildings.

Distribution

Common in the whole of Europe.

Period

All year.
