Description of Ero furcata (Forked pirate spider)

Physical Characteristics

Female 3 to 5 mm.
Abdomen with two lumps. In front of these lumps often dark brown, behind the lumps light brown. Entire abdomen with dark spots.
Carapace yellow-brown with a black fork-shaped pattern at the front, a black pointed spot on top and a black band along the edge.
Legs and palps clearly light-dark annulated.

Male 2 to 3 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

Several areas, such as forests, wet and dry meadows.

Distribution

Common in the whole of Europe.

Period

Spring, summer and autumn.
