Description of Allagelena gracilens

Physical Characteristics

Markings are not always clear.

Female 7 to 11 mm.
Abdomen dark brown, sometimes with faint light brown chevrons and light brown sides.
Carapace reddish brown, sometimes with a faint light brown median band and faint light brown edges.
Legs light brown to reddish brown.
Palps light brown to reddish brown.

Male 5 to 10 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

Shrubs and other dense vegetation. The spider makes builds therein a small web with a tubular retreat.

Distribution

Occurs in almost the whole of Europe, but most common in the south.

Period

Spring, summer and autumn.
