Description of Loxosceles rufescens

Physical Characteristics

Female 7 to 7.5 mm.
Abdomen shiny grey-brown, yellow-brown or orange.
Carapace pale brown, yellow-brown or orange with a darker violin-shaped pattern from the eye area to the rear and faint radial stripes.
Legs and palps with the same colour as the carapace.

Male 7 to 7.5 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

In hot, dry areas in caves, on walls and under stones. Also in and around buildings.

Distribution

Occurs in the Mediterranean area.

Period

Summer and autumn.
