Description of Eratigena agrestis (Hobo spider)

Physical Characteristics

Female 10 to 15 mm.
Abdomen grey-brown to dark brown with light brown chevrons and light brown spots along the sides.
Carapace light brown to yellow-brown with unclearly bounded, dark brown longitudinal bands and a thin dark brown band around the edge.
Legs and palps yellow-brown to dark brown.

Male 9 to 10 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

Between stones and plants in sunny, warm areas. Also on the edge of sparsely vegetated, domestic dunes.

Distribution

Occurs in almost the whole of Europe, but most common in the south.

Period

Summer and autumn.
