Description of Cyclosa conica

Physical Characteristics

Colour highly variable.

Female 6 to 8 mm.
Abdomen posteriorly with a big protuberance. Colour greenish, orange, brown or almost black with white markings.
Carapace black.
Legs and palps light brown. Sometimes with clear dark annulations.

Male 4 to 5 mm.
Markings almost identical to the female, but darker in colour and with a smaller protuberance at the rear of the abdomen.

Habitat

Mainly on conifers and sunny grass slopes.

Distribution

Common in the whole of Europe.

Period

Spring and summer.
