Description of Clubiona reclusa (Common sac spider)

Physical Characteristics

Female 4 to 9 mm.
Abdomen brown to dark (reddish) brown with a faint dark cardiac mark.
Carapace brown to dark (reddish) brown with a fine dark marbled pattern and a thin black band along the edge.
Legs and palps brown to dark (reddish) brown.

Male 4 to 6 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female. Legs and chelicerae often lighter than the carapace.

Habitat

In moist areas and along river banks in various plants and shrubs.

Distribution

Common in the whole of Europe.

Period

All year.
