Description of Filistata insidiatrix

Physical Characteristics

Female 9 to 14 mm.
Abdomen glossy grey-brown hair.
Carapace light brown with a dark brown triangular median band and a dark brown band along the edge.
Legs and palps remarkably tall and solidly built. Colour yellow-brown.

Male 7 to 9 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

In wall crevices and wall holes, under rocks and in forests and caves.

Distribution

Common in the Mediterranean area.

Period

Females all year. Males autumn, winter and spring.
