Description of Microlinyphia pusilla (Small hanky-weaver)

Physical Characteristics

Markings variable.

Female 3 to 5.5 mm.
Abdomen white with an irregular black median band and black spots along the sides.
Carapace black-brown.
Legs and palps yellow-brown.

Male 3 to 4 mm.
Markings almost identical to the female, but often darker coloured. The palp has a remarkably large embolus.

Habitat

In various vegetation in humid, open areas.

Distribution

Common in the whole of Europe.

Period

Spring and summer.
