Description of Oxyopes globifer

Physical Characteristics

Female 4.5 to 9 mm.
Abdomen orange brown with a white outlined, pale yellow cardiac mark and a light brown longitudinal band which extends from there to the spinnerets . Along the sides slanting white stripes.
Carapace orange brown with a pale yellow median band, which narrowes up to the front and extends between the eyes to the chelicerae. Along the sides pale yellow bands running diagonally upwards at the front to the eyes. Chelicerae with white hairs.
Legs beige with darker joints and long black spines.
Palps beige with dark tarsi.

Male 3.5 to 5.5 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female, but with more contrast.

Habitat

In plants and on rocks in warm and dry areas.

Distribution

Occurs in the Mediterranean area.

Period

The portrayed specimens have been found in June. No further information about the period is known.
