Description of Thanatus atratus

Physical Characteristics

Female 4.5 to 6 mm.
Abdomen light brown with a clear, dark brown cardiac mark and a dark area behind it. Along the sides a dark brown longitudinal band.
Carapace dark brown with a light median band containing a dark brown triangular spot and a light band on the sides.
Legs and palps light brown

Male 3 to 5 mm.
Resembles the female, but the markings are darker and with more contrast.

Habitat

In dry and semi-dry areas with low vegetation.

Distribution

Occurs in almost the whole of Europe.

Period

Summer.
