Description of Theridion varians

Physical Characteristics

Markings and colour highly variable.

Female 2.5 to 4 mm.
Abdomen pale yellow marbled with a light coloured wavy longitudinal band surrounded by a wide dark outline.
Carapace yellow brown with a black median band and a thin black band along the edge.
Legs and palps clearly light-dark annulated.

Male 2.5 to 3.5 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.

Habitat

In plants and shrubs and on buildings. In the mountains up to more than 1,000 m.

Distribution

Common in the whole of Europe.

Period

Spring and summer. Females until autumn.
