Description of Diaea dorsata (Green crab spider)

Physical Characteristics

Female 5 to 7.5 mm.
Abdomen yellowish with a dark brown leaf-like pattern.
Carapace green with some long, dark hairs and light rings around the eyes.
Legs and palps green.

Male 3 to 4 mm.
Resembles the female, but with two short, dark longitudinal bands on the carapace which extend in a dark area around the anterior eyes, brown annulations on the first two pairs of legs and brown tips on the palps.

Habitat

In forests and open areas in trees and bushes.

Distribution

Common in the whole of Europe.

Period

Summer and autumn.
