Female 10 to 19 mm.
Abdomen light brown to dark brown with a dark, slightly constricted cardiac mark and chevrons and pairs of light dots behind .
Carapace light brown to dark brown with two dark longitudinal bands and dark spots and stripes between. Often a face-like shape can be seen in the pattern.
Legs and palps yellowish brown to brown with dark brown spots and annulations.
Male 10 to 13 mm.
Markings and colours almost identical to the female.
In forest areas under stones and bark and in and around buildings
Occurs in the Mediterranean area. Up to the north as far as Germany.
Almost all year.
